So if my field says $20.00. I need a workflow to update that field to ($20.00). I don's see anyway I can update the field to ($20.00) via workflow. Make sense?

Just thought I would add this: During the in place upgrade from 2015 to 2016 we have run into some interesting issues. Environment: 2 servers running as a load balanced pair behind an F5 When we went to run the upgrade on the first server, we got an error that said : "Unable to connect to orgname_ temp db." This DB does not exist. But that's ok, because then we hit ok, and setup continues. You can step through the entire setup process, and when it runs the validation checks, it will error out on connecting to the orgname_ temp db, which really, isn't that surprising seeing as that DB DOES NOT EXIST... As long as you have added the ignorechecks registry entry, the setup will allow you to continue. The install will start, and then partway through that one, it will error out with "Setup has detected files in use. Please close the applications that are using..." Abort, Retry Ignore So we ignored it. Like you do. And then we got another just like that. So we ignored it too. Like you do. Setup then continued and finished. Reboot, and we were able to get into deployment manager, so we added update .01 before updating the Orgs. Started the update on the 2nd server, which had been getting the same error of "Can't login to orgname_ temp db" But now, it didn't get that error... All the same steps as above, including the ignore, ignore. So now we are ion the process of updating the Orgs. If anything untoward happens, I'll let you know.

Scott this is great if I were going to point to sharepoint. I think I can still manage to point to a webpage using these steps. I specifically want to point to the articles section so the users are able to utilize the search keywords feature on articles. Any idea how to get the static article address or page url?? I tried the obvious. copying the url but it changes I noticed and takes me to weird places within CRM. It's not reliable. Thanks

I have access to a new server to move the front-end(Not SQL). I'll be migrating the Live front-end server, so little or no downtime, I've got 6 Orgs and need to setup ports,IFD and do testing, can I run both front-end servers concurrently against the one SQL server till I'm happy that everything's correct on the new server? I've seen mention that the "MSCRM_CONFIG" might get locked. Would I install the CRM on the new server and point it to a temp Database, just to get it installed, then try update Server refs, or point to actual live server and "Create a new deployment" or "Connect to". Any assistance would really be appreciated.

Hi all, I have a perhaps unusual request. I'd like to be able to have a shared contacts folder (address book) that all users would have access to in Outlook. Ideally, it would be a dynamic query based on our CRM contacts list. In our case, a list of all client contacts. I understand this can be done on everyone's machine individually. But there are two problems with this: 1. There's no way to administer this 2. Because it's a local contacts database, any rules will be local only and ideally I'd like to have an outlook rule that automatically moves all emails from client contacts into a inbox subfolder called "Client Email" which we'll then set up as a tracked folder I found a good article explaining how to set up a shared contacts folder using exchange online here: https://www.cogmotive.com/blog/office-365-tips/create-a-company-shared-contacts-folder-in-office-365 My only issue is that this database will get stale over time. Ideally it should be dynamic and based on a CRM list. Any way of doing this? It would be an extremely useful feature.

So I am glad to see that there is native Timer functionality in CRM 2016 but I have a few questions I wasn't able to determine just from playing around with it. 1.) Can a timer be added that records the amount of a time a user filling out a form up until it's saved? It looks like you have to Save the form first for the timer to start going. 2.) What reporting is available on the timer? I tried an Advanced Find for the Timer field I created but it doesn't show up. Is there any way to build reports off of this?

Hi, Yes, that makes sense. No, you can't do it out of the box. It would be pretty easy to write a custom workflow assembly to invert the number though. Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question. Thanks, Aiden

If you are talking about the standard articles in CRM - you can use the email a link button to get a url directly to that record.

There is no way of doing this OOTB - you would need to create a program to sync the contacts with the contacts folder. Could you not use the CRM Outlook client sync feature to get an address book linked to CRM? Hi Marino, no we still don't have solution. But I don't get this error the Problem is we can't work with Outlook after Installation of Add-on in Ofline Mode. As far I get some Information I will post it.

When you go into customize the entity there is an option for allow quick create. If you uncheck this it will open the main form instead of the quick create form. Just a side note if you have other areas where the opportunity is a child record it will open the main form as well. It will also remove it from the quick create in the navigation bar.

I didn't understand the prefix thing. Can you please explain, sorry to bother you. And one more thing i have 14 options in optionset, is it ok to do that many checkboxes. I have optionset field called Places and it has 14 options in it. User can choose multiple places. Can you please guide me for this, Monday is the deadline for this. I tried other codes too, nothing is working in my environment. The below link is working in trial CRM online 2016. You can edit the site map. This changes them in the mobile app and in CRM. There is a nice tool to edit the sitemap found here http://www.xrmtoolbox.com/ .

I could be wrong on this but I do not know a way to change the tool tip based on a condition on the form in a supported manner. Although you can use business rules to lock the field until name 1 contains data.

I think you have the right idea, another thing I like to do is have each of the developers have their own publisher to ensure that picklist values and prefix do not intertwine. Before moving out of dev instance I usually make it an organizational publisher.
